Evy Jo & Co is an online modern apothecary based in Montreal with an artisan line of handcrafted and 100% natural bath and skincare products. All the ingredients (such as herbs, essential oils, clays, etc.) are plant-based, organic, raw, or sustainably-sourced from Canadian and Québec-based suppliers. I discovered the brand on Instagram and after asking the Founder/Owner Evelyn about her brand and products, she was kind enough to send me some to try out!
VOLCANIQUE (Bentonite Clay Mask with Bamboo Charcoal $24) – It’s no secret that I love bamboo charcoal, so I was very intrigued to try this mask. It comes in a little glass jar and with 1 tsp of the clay, you add a small amount of water and mix it with a non-metal spoon. Next thing you know, you have a smooth paste of bentonite clay that is ready to detoxify your skin! I find the whole mixing process really fun but it did take me a second try to figure out what consistency worked best, as my first batch came out a little bit thick and goopy. But after a few uses, I noticed that my pores around my cheeks have noticeably shrunk. Some of the black heads are gone and my overall skin texture has improved! I have always loved ingredients that pull out toxin that are trapped in my skin as my pores can get congested fairly easily, so two thumbs up for this clay mask!
PURE (Purifying Facial Elixir $34) – This is a facial dry oil that works as a clarifying moisturizer to nourish and repair the skin at a deeper level. Sometimes my skin can react badly to oils so I was a little worried to try it out, but I took one for the team and thank god, not only it didn’t break me out, it actually made my skin feel really soft! I only used this product at night (with or without a moisturizer depending on how my skin felt that night) and my skin felt extra plump and soft. One thing to note though, the lemon myrtle essential oil works amazing when it comes to its anti-bacterial properties, but the scent reminds me of dish soap when I apply a little more than usual. But all in all, the product itself works well!
LUXE (Coconut Milk Bath Soak $22) – This bath soak is probably my favourite product in this repertoire! It’s made with ground oats, coconut milk powder, and tapioca flour and it really nourishes my skin and leaves it silky soft. I’m also a huge fan of coconut so I absolutely love its heavenly smell! My only complaint is that it claims to offer 10-12 baths on the site, but according to the instructions on the label (add 1/4cup of product into the bath), you actually only get 3-4 baths tops. Honestly, I just don’t want to use it up, because it’s such a luxury product and I love it so much!
CHARCOAL SOAP (Hemp + Japanese Bamboo Charcoal Soap $14) – Actually, I lied – this soap is my favourite product from the bunch. Ever since I started using this soap, my skin has been feeling extra soft even when I’m too lazy to moisturize. It gives a thick and creamy lather, and works really well with my loofa to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells from my skin, esp. drier areas like my elbows and ankles. The activated charcoal draws out impurities and toxins, leaving my skin feeling refreshed and purified. I also find the scent really lovely, with notes of patchouli, lavender, and other flowers.
Whether you love supporting local companies and entrepreneurs, or if you’re on the hunt for high quality handmade items, I highly recommend Evy Jo & Co! The products are effective and with gorgeous simplistic packaging. With Mother’s Day coming up, I’m sure any of these pampering products would make a mother very happy! Have you shopped from other Canadian Etsy shops before? Let me know!
