REVIEW | *Tangle Teezer – Detangling Hairbrush and Blow-Styling Hairbrush

2.5 years ago, I jumped on the bandwagon and went for the ombré look. After dyeing and bleaching and constantly curling my hair, my little compact styler was the saviour to all the knots and tangles. Earlier this year, I chopped my damaged hair and told myself that I will never put my hair under the same kind of stress again. My hair is on the thicker side and has a slight wave to it, but all thanks to Tangle Teezer, I can now achieve straight, glossy hair without having to use a straightener!

I’m sure the original detangling hairbrush is no stranger to you. It’s the big sister of the compact styler. It glides through hair gently to minimize the stress and breakage that a lot of hairbrushes can cause. I know it’s a big no-no, but I tried it on wet hair and it actually works really well! The teeth on the brush come in two different lengths – the longer teeth help remove knots and kinks, whereas the shorter teeth smooth and leave hair glossy. Together they help create shine while leaving the hair healthy and tangle-free. I love the concave shape of the brush because it’s easy to handle and hold onto. It’s light in weight and it’s bright in colour, making it the cutest tool to keep at your vanity for a quick brush through. I normally use this in the morning when I get ready, and when I brush through my hair before hopping into the shower at night.

As for the blow-styling hairbrush, it aims to effortlessly smooth and soften hair without using an actual straightener. This brush is the full paddle and it’s meant for medium to long hair. If you’re not one to give yourself a professional blowout, it’s going to take quite a few practices like it did for me. The brush itself is slightly heavy but it doesn’t really bother me, as I tend to like things with a little bit more weight to it. After using it for quite a few times, I got the hang of how it works and now I love how it really helps distribute the heat evenly for a smooth and silky finish. All thanks to its shape, the brush creates free-flow tension to remove moisture, giving me straight, glossy hair in a fraction of the time. The teeth on this brush seems a little daunting at first but it definitely helps remove excess water, which in turn, again, speeds up the overall drying process while smoothing out hair like a dream. I use it every time I blow-dry my hair and I can no longer live without it!

One thing I absolutely love about Tangle Teezer is that cleaning their brushes is a breeze. They are made of a soft rubber material instead of cheap, thin bristles, making it so easy to remove any trapped hair or lint. If you’re interested, check out Tangle Teezer at Sephora and Well.ca!
