I was in need of an internet detox so I took some time off the last couple of weeks. With that said, (of course) I didn’t stop trying out new beauty products! Now that I’m back online full-force, I have compiled some beauty favourites that I can’t wait to share with you.
Summer is all about that goddess-like bronzy tan that we all want to achieve. However, I wasn’t lucky enough to be on a cruise or a tropical island to get that colour on. That is when I fell in love with the St. Tropez Self Tan Express Bronzing Mist. It was actually my first time using a self-tan product and this made it so easy and foolproof! It takes just a few minutes to spray the product evenly over your legs and body, and 1-3 hours (depending on how dark you want to be) for the tan to develop. To keep my skin hydrated, I also use the St. Tropez Sculpt and Glow Toning Lotion whenever I have fake tan on. It hydrates and firms the skin while giving that luminous appearance. It also has active ingredients that help develop a sun-kissed glow, so it was a perfect pairing with the mist. On days (or nights) when I’m feeling extra fancy, I apply Cocoa Brown’s Golden Goddess Shimmer Oil on my decolletage, shoulders, and legs. It’s a luxurious dry coconut oil that has very finely-milled gold shimmer and it makes your skin glisten. One thing to mention though – as beautiful as this product is, the shimmers can get pretty messy so make sure to use a brush.
To prevent premature aging, there isn’t a day that I don’t apply SPF. My mom uses the Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA+++, so it has been my go-to ever since I started wearing sunscreen daily a few years ago. But if I feel I need extra protection, I love layering the Origins GinZing SPF40 Tinted Moisturizer on top. It’s not very often that you see tinted moisturizers with such a high SPF. So if you’re someone who doesn’t like to take the extra step to apply SPF or if you’re having one of those lazy days, this is the perfect product! (I’ll go more in depth about this in an upcoming blog post) If I need to touch up my SPF during the day, I always use my trusty Supergoop! Defense Refresh SPF50 Setting Mist (mentioned in this blogpost as well) or the Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF45 (only available in the US). For more tips on reapplying sunscreen over makeup, check out my friend Jay’s blogpost on this topic!
My everyday lipstick this summer is the Dior Addict Lipstick in Tout-Paris. It’s a bright pink shade that is very easy to wear. It has a slight shimmer but it doesn’t goop up and it feels very comfortable on. The colour itself isn’t super pigmented. So I can wear it as a soft wash of pink or layer it on for a bolder look! I bought it before my short trip to Paris in May and the bullet is almost done! Other than that, I’ve also been enjoying some of the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipsticks a lot. They are extra hydrating and smooth, and the colours are so beautifully vibrant. My favourites are #12 and #41, and I sometimes wear both of them to create a coral gradient lip look! And lastly, the Clinique + Jonathan Adler collaboration. Ugh, I can’t even express how much I love the packaging. The little hemisphere on top is inspired by his Globo collection, which is so iconic! With that said, the Pop Lip Colours are as gorgeous as the lipstick bullet itself. I have it in Capri Pop, Santorini Pop, and Bare Pop, and they are all so beautiful and moisturizing. I can totally see Bare Pop becoming my everyday fall colour because it’s such a perfect my-lips-but-better nude.
Tout-Paris > #12 > #41 > Capri Pop > Santorini Pop > Bare Pop
Last but not least, nail polishes! My go-tos all year round are OPI’s Alpine Snow, Deborah Lippman’s Totally Nude and Flesh for Fantasy. Just a white and two nudes. Beautiful shades not all that special. But this summer, I’ve been trying out some vibrant colours and was pleasantly surprised by some of the no-lamp gel nail polish formulas! The Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel lasts on me for up to 10 days without a single chip (love this bright watermelon shade in Pocket Aces) and without losing its shellac-like shine. I have also been enjoying essie’s gel couture polishes and my favourite colours are Spool Me Over (an apricot pink) and Zip Me Up (a pearlescent mint). They last for a little over a week without chipping and the formula is also extremely high-shine. I love painting my own nails and I enjoy changing the colour weekly. I’m so impressed by these two nail polish formulas and I can’t wait to explore more colours!
