Let’s talk about one of my favourite skincare finds in 2016! I love retinol, an all-powerful skincare ingredient that I know works amazingly well with my skin. But if you’re like me, sometimes you just don’t want to be bothered to book an appointment with the dermatologist’s office just to get the prescription retinol cream you want. Retinol Treatment 60 by Miracle 10 Skincare to the rescue!
Miracle 10 Skincare was launched in 2011 offering what is considered “medical grade” skincare products, helping people look their best without the need for down time. The brand’s philosophy is built on exercising your skin – if you think about it, it makes perfect sense that we exercise our skin to help renew itself, such as slowing and reversing signs of aging, healing acne, etc. Fun fact: the skincare line is created by The Plastic Surgery Skincare Clinic for their customers to help actively combat aging skin, fine lines, dullness, hyper-pigmentation, and acne. And all products are fragrance-free, paraben-free, and not tested on animals.
Retinol Treatment 60 ($84) combines the power of retinol with a unique blend of botanical emollients to activate your skin. Claiming to give noticeable results in smoothness in 10 hours and improved discolouration in 10 days, I can actually vouch for this. Like all retinol products, I use it at night (alternating with my glycolic acid products) and every morning after I use it, my skin is significantly softer and smoother. Not to mention that I noticed some of my darker scars lightened up and redness reduced after just a week of using it consistently. It also claims to diminish appearance of wrinkles and pore size in 10 weeks – I’m only at 8 weeks right now and I don’t necessarily have “wrinkles” yet, but I have definitely noticed a difference in my pore size on my cheeks. And did I forget to mention that I have been getting less breakouts? Because that’s definitely another huge plus!
I have reviewed this other retinol product before but on top of its hefty price tag, it also smells horrible. So one thing I love about this Retinol 60 is that it smells like nothing! I use 2 pumps each time and spread a thin layer all over my face, avoiding my eye area. Of course, I never go on with my day without sunscreen, especially when using retinol. So I cannot stress this enough – make sure you layer up your sunscreen to protect your skin! Retinol renews your skin overnight and can cause sensitivity to the sun. Another thing to note is that it has a gritty texture, which is unlike anything I’ve used. But that doesn’t really bother me because it’s a nighttime product. Since I have already built a tolerance towards retinol over the years, I went for the stronger version of this product with 0.6% retinol. They also have Retinol 30 with 0.3% retinol, which is a smarter choice if you’re just starting out. Retinol really does take time for your skin to adjust to, so make sure you’re not giving your skin too much to handle all of a sudden!
