We visited Budapest, Vienna, and Prague, and all three Airbnbs we stayed at were incredible! My family and I go to Europe every other year. We realized not only is Airbnb a more cost effective choice, it also allows us to experience the character of each city better.  In Budapest, we lived in a luxury penthouse apartment (pictured above) that was featured as the #1 property in the city. Isn’t it stunning?! You can see the iconic landmark St. Stephen’s Basilica right from the beautiful windows, and its location is walkable to everything you need. As you can see, the space is just gorgeous – with high ceilings, designer furniture, and a huge chandelier. It is definitely the most beautiful space I’ve ever stayed at and I would go back in a heartbeat. It was actually one of the reasons we decided to visit Budapest – I was browsing Airbnbs from different cities and came across this, and I just had to book it right away. In Vienna, we stayed at a cozy apartment which was different from anything we’ve ever stayed at. It was very ornate with gorgeous ceiling moulding, beautiful gold accents, and interesting art and antiques. The owner Sandra lived here with her family for years and there were paintings and portraits of family members (and their dog!) throughout the apartment. We loved that the apartment felt very homey and how safe the area was. Being right across from the Belvedere Palace, we really had a taste of Vienna’s elegance right in this Airbnb. For Prague, our Airbnb wasn’t as “special” as the other two. But we loved it regardless! It’s a spacious studio with a lot of sunlight. Right in the heart of the Old Town Square, its location cannot be any better as all the major sights and restaurants were close by. One reason we like booking Airbnbs over hotels is finding the perfect location – you can stay at exactly where you want without breaking the bank. For instance, for a nice hotel room for 3 people in the Old Town Square would cost a lot more than what we paid for this Airbnb. If you don’t really care for room service, complimentary breakfast, and other hotel amenities, Airbnb is definitely the way to go. These apartments cost around 200CAD per night for us and honestly, it was so worth it. Depending on the city, the location, and your budget, you can really find anything. (I was curious one night and started searching for mansions and castles in Europe. They cost a fortune, but they’re beautiful and grand!) It’s probably harder to find apartments like this for the same price in cities like Paris and London. But Central Europe is generally quite affordable, so I highly recommend going for Airbnb.

My Favourite Before/After Workout Beauty Products http://bonjourzoe.com/fave-workout-beauty-products/ http://bonjourzoe.com/fave-workout-beauty-products/#respond Fri, 30 Jun 2017 14:00:52 +0000 http://bonjourzoe.com/?p=825 About a month ago, I joined the spin cult and started going to classes about 5 times a week. If you know me in real life, you’ll know that’s absolutely crazy… Because I’m the least athletic person in the world. (Seriously.) And being new to this whole workout thing, I realized there are some beauty products that help make it a little more bearable, so I thought I’d share some of my favourites! *kaia naturals bamboo charcoal deodorant stick ($21) I mean – using a deodorant before you workout shouldn’t be a big surprise. This deodorant, though, is different because it’s 99% natural. If you haven’t switched to a natural deodorant yet, I urge you to read more about it. But the main reason I love this one so much is that the activated charcoal fights odor-causing bacteria while drawing toxins out. While it helps keep you smelling fresh, it’s also detoxing your pits! (Check out my full review on this product here) *kaia naturals juicy bamboo cleansing cloths ($15.50) I was really disappointed with these wipes at first because they were horrible with makeup removal. So I looked at the box again and realized – that’s not what they’re meant for! After a sweaty workout, or on those 5am mornings when I don’t have time to wash my face, I use these to cleanse my skin. And they’re amazing for that! They are very soft and gentle, leaving my skin clean without stripping the moisture. I also love to use them to freshen up after a flight! *IMAGE Skincare Daily Tinted Moisturizer Oil-Free SPF 30+ ($72) I gave this product a quick mention in my last post, but it really is a life-saver for those super early mornings! As its name suggests, it does 3 things – it evens out your skin tone, it moisturizes, and it protects you against the sun. It doesn’t give you any “coverage”, but I like how it makes my skin look a little more even. And with the built-in SPF, I don’t have to go in with a sunscreen anymore. And it’s actually very moisturizing! *Miracle 10 Rejuvenating Mist ($25) After my workout, I wipe my face and I spray this all over. And it feels so good! I didn’t really enjoy this as a makeup setting spray because the spray comes out a bit too strong, but it works so amazing as a post-workout refresher. It has aloe vera, witch hazel, and lavender to hydrate and brighten the skin. And I find that it really gives a nice, cooling feeling which is so nice after a hot, sweaty workout! Supergoop! Defense Refresh SPF 50 Rosemary Setting Mist ($34) You know how you’re supposed to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, but you never do? Well, this setting mist has an SPF 50, so you now can! It protects your skin from sun damage, it controls oil, and you can spray it on whenever you need to. I use this post-workout to make sure my skin is […]

An Introduction to IMAGE Skincare http://bonjourzoe.com/introduction-to-image-skincare/ http://bonjourzoe.com/introduction-to-image-skincare/#comments Mon, 26 Jun 2017 14:00:52 +0000 http://bonjourzoe.com/?p=714 A few weeks ago, I attended an educational session to learn all about IMAGE Skincare. I had never heard of this company prior to the event. But after using some of their products for a little while, I have to say – I’m pretty impressed! They’re all about using the latest technologies in their products to defy aging and harsh environmental effects. And obviously, once I heard the words “anti-aging”, I had to be on board! In this blog post, I will give a quick overview the products that I have received, from left to right. PREVENTION + Daily Tinted Moisturizer Oil-Free SPF 30+ ($72): Built in with broad-spectrum high UVA/UVB sun protection, this tinted moisturizer defends against sun damage and environmental exposures. I don’t use it as part of my regular skincare routine. But I apply it before my morning spin class as a quick sunscreen and moisturizer two-in-one, and it works great! ORMEDIC Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex ($36): This lip treatment is designed to enhance the appearance and volume of lip contours while hydrating your lips. And the one I have is in collaboration with their Care for Skin Foundation. So instead of a clear gloss, it’s in a sheer pink colour! I really like that it’s smooths out my lips and gives a very natural and pretty look. And it’s very hydrating and not sticky at all. VITAL C Hydrating Hand and Body Lotion ($70): This lotion is supercharged with antioxidants, nutrient-rich oils, and shea butter to quench and revitalize the skin while improving elasticity and combating signs of aging. I haven’t used it long enough to tell that it helps with anti-aging, but I love that my skin just drinks it up – you can wear clothes after a few minutes of application, so it’s perfect after morning showers. YANA Daily Collagen Shots ($150): This beauty liquid contains a high-concentrated blend of collagen peptides, ceramides, antioxidants and vitamins. So it can help increase skin firmness, reduce wrinkle depth, restore hydration to get your skin looking youthful and glowy. You have probably noticed that powder collagen supplements are all over Instagram. But I find that this to be much more convenient, since it’s just one shot a day. The only challenge is that I haven’t been consistent with drinking it every single day, so that’s something I have to work on. AGELESS Total Overnight Retinol Masque ($120): This concentrated overnight retinol masque helps increase firmness, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and improve the appearance of imperfections. If you’ve been around for a little while, you’ll know I love products with retinol. My skin is baby soft and glowy the morning after I use this overnight treatment, and I find that this treatment in particular is more potent than anything else I’ve used. I MASK Biomolecular Anti-Aging Radiance Mask ($72): This anti-aging hydrogel mask helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles, brighten, and rejuvenate your skin to give that youthful appearance and radiance. For more information about IMAGE Skincare, go ahead and check out their official website! One thing I have to mention is that IMAGE Skincare is only available through licensed Physicians and Certified Estheticians, so reach out to their Canadian distributor to find out which spas and salons carry them. But if you’re located in downtown Toronto, you can find them at the Four Seasons Spa in Yorkville!

National Pink Day – Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay http://bonjourzoe.com/origins-rose-clay-mask/ http://bonjourzoe.com/origins-rose-clay-mask/#comments Fri, 23 Jun 2017 14:00:32 +0000 http://bonjourzoe.com/?p=696 It’s no surprise that pink is one of my favourite colours (duh!) and since it’s National Pink Day today, I thought I’d talk about a mask that I love that is also pink! I’ve been a fan of Origins for a while and even though I haven’t tried too many of their products, I like a lot of their masks and most of them work well with my skin. But this one – the Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay ($32) – I think it’s safe to say that it’s my favourite so far! One reason I love this mask so much is that it’s a two-in-one product. It purifies your skin while refining its texture, all in just 10 minutes! Formulated with Canadian willowherb, Persian silk tree, and a potent blend of active ingredients, it boosts the skin’s overall quality. It also gently deep cleans while refining the skin’s texture and giving a radiant and youthful complexion that we all want to achieve! This mask has a fresh citrus scent that doesn’t really linger, and the texture is thick with visible jojoba beans as an exfoliant. After I cleanse my face, I apply a thin layer on my entire face and leave it on for no more than 10 minutes. I then go in and wet my hands to gently massage in circular motions to get rid of those bumps and dead skin cells. You can feel the grittiness, but it’s not so abrasive that your skin would get red or sensitive. And finally, I rinse everything off and put on my skincare products right away to maximize absorption! My skin is always tight and smooth right after I use this mask. Not only it feels softer, the mask also gives that super clean feeling without actually stripping moisture out of your skin as long as you don’t leave it on for too long. (I always set a timer when using clay/mud masks!) I also find that the product just feels luxe when you put it on – the scent, the texture, and the fact that it’s so pretty and pink! After I use this mask, I immediately feel that my pores are smaller and that my skin is retexturized. It also helps with keeping my oiliness at bay so if you’re an oily/combo girl like me, you’ll definitely enjoy this. The last thing I want to mention about this mask is that it lasts quite a while. I like to use it no more than twice a week, and I find that one bottle can get you at least 12-15 uses. Which, if you think about it, is a pretty good deal for $32! You don’t need a lot of it to get your entire face and like I mentioned, it’s a mask and an exfoliator in one. If you haven’t seen or tried this product before, check it out!

Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate http://bonjourzoe.com/review-clinique-hydrating-supercharged-concentrate/ http://bonjourzoe.com/review-clinique-hydrating-supercharged-concentrate/#respond Mon, 12 Jun 2017 14:00:29 +0000 http://bonjourzoe.com/?p=671 When I came back from my travels in May, I got really sick – a fever and a cold. My skin was parched from being physically dehydrated, and my nose got all red and flaky from sneezing so much. Thank god I also came home to a super fun PR package from Clinique – this Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate was exactly what my skin needed at the time. When you’re sick, you don’t want to put on a rich moisturizer because it can feel extra thick and gross. What this concentrate had done for my skin was that it delivered a surge of hydration without the heaviness. It has a very light water-gel texture that applies and glides smoothly across the skin, and it makes my skin feel plump and hydrated in just a few minutes! As you can see, it comes with a pump so thumbs up for being sanitary! What I like to do is I apply my toner first, serum second, and this concentrate third. I normally go in with 1-1.5 pumps for my entire face and neck, but when I do have extra dry patches, I’ll go in and add a second layer on just those areas. One thing that some people might not like about this product is that it feels a little bit sticky when it dries. But personally I don’t mind it because I always go in with my daily sunscreen to finish off my routine. I like to use this concentrate in the morning because it is so light and it absorbs into the skin so quickly. It also gives my skin a plumper, smoother, and more supple look right away, which is amazing for makeup application! My foundation always glides on more smoothly when I have this as a base, and my makeup tends to last a little longer as well since I don’t get as oily as I normally do. I have recently started taking spin classes regularly, and apparently your skin loses almost a full litre of water from a 45-minute workout. So every time after a spin class, I need this concentrate for that burst of hydration! What I also love about this concentrate is that it is formulated with this fancy technology called Liquid-Sphere. The water-binding agents lock in hydration and strengthen skin’s moisture barrier, while delaying signs of aging – which means that it helps to break the cycle of dryness and environmental stress that can lead to premature aging. I was told that once you turn 25, your skin will only go downhill… So I need all the anti-aging properties there is! After trying this product for a few weeks while having dry skin, combo skin, and back to oily skin, I truly believe it works with all skin types. And I think this is something I’m going to use throughout the summer! Check out this Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate ($46) at Sephora, Shoppers, Hudson’s Bay, and on the Clinique website, and if you […]
